Setting the Default Email Notification Configuration Using the Web UI

This section explains how to setup the default configuration for email notifications.

Prerequisites

  • The Malware Analysis appliance must have network access to an SMTP server.
  • Admin or Operator access to the Malware Analysis appliance.

To set the default configuration for email notifications:

  1. Go to the SMTP Settings screen.

    Select the Settings tab and the Notifications side bar. Select the SMTP tab and go to the Define protocol settings box.

  2. Enter the domain that is used for email in the Domain box in the return address.
  3. (Optional) Select the Return hostname checkbox to use the local domain name. Clear this checkbox to use the value in the Return Username box and the value in the Domain box.
  4. Enter the user who is specified as the “from” user in the Return username box.
  5. Verify that the value in the Return address information is correct. If it is not, change the values in the Domain box and the Return username box.
  6. Select XML, JSON, or Text as the default format and select the level of detail provided in the Default format drop-down list.
  7. Select whether to send the notification as an inline message or an attachment in the Default send as drop-down list.
  8. Select the delivery frequency in the Default delivery drop-down list:

    FireEye recommends using Per Event notifications.

  9. To apply the SMTP settings, click APPLY SETTINGS.
