Managing Guest Images Using the Web UI

This topic describes how to manage guest images using the Web UI on your Malware Analysis appliance.

Prerequisites

To manage guest images on your Malware Analysis appliance, ensure you have:

  • An established connection to the Internet
  • A connection to the DTI Cloud or a CM server
  • Administrator or Operator access to the Malware Analysis appliance
  • A CONTENT_UPDATES license
  • A FIREEYE_SUPPORT license

Viewing Guest Images Using the Web UI

The Guest Images page in the Malware Analysis Web UI lists the guest images that are available to the Malware Analysis appliance. This information is only for viewing.

For information about how to enable or disable file types, see Managing Malware File Associations.

To view the current guest images:

  1. In the Web UI, choose Settings > Guest Images.
  2. In the Analysis Images table, view the current guest images.

    NOTE: The Guest Images list is dynamic: new guest images and version updates for the current guest images are automatically made available to your appliance from the DTI cloud through security content updates.

Managing Guest Images Using the Web UI

Use the Appliance Update page in the Malware Analysis Web UI to check for updates and to download or install new guest image profiles that are available for the Malware Analysis appliance.

The information in this section explains how to:

  • View the current update status for guest images
  • Check for guest images updates
  • Download guest images updates
  • Install guest images updates

To view the current update status for guest images:

  1. Log in to the Web UI using a valid Admin or Operator user name and password.
  2. Choose About > Upgrade to open the Appliance Upgrade page.

    Guest image status and options are available in the Appliance Upgrade table.

To check for guest images updates:

  1. Log in to the Web UI using a valid Admin or Operator user name and password.
  2. Choose About > Upgrade to open the Appliance Upgrade page.

  3. Click the Action link in the Action column of the Guest Images row to check for any available updates. The Check option displays.
  4. Click Check. If an upgrade is available, the Download option displays. If an upgrade is not available, the Check option remains as the only option and a Success message briefly displays to verify that the check is in progress.

To download guest images updates:

  1. Log in to the Web UI using a valid Admin or Operator username and password.
  2. Choose About > Upgrade to open the Appliance Upgrade page.

  3. If a download check indicates that a download is available, click the Download option in the Action column of the Guest Images row.

  4. After a successful download, a Success message briefly displays to verify that the download was successful. The Install option appears when you click the Action symbol.

To install guest images updates:

  1. Log in to the Web UI using a valid Admin or Operator username and password.
  2. Choose About > Upgrade to open the Appliance Upgrade page.

  3. If a guest image check and download has been completed successfully, click the Install option in the Action column of the Guest Images row.
